“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you." - Matthew 7:12a (NLT)

I watched a movie where a lady destroyed her brother’s home. But when it was time for her too get married, she started praying for her mother-in-law to die. Meanwhile, this lady was expecting a child and her child would also get married. On the other hand, the lady’s mother tried to destroy her children’s home because she claimed she suffered before she could raise her children. So, she felt it was her right to dictate and do whatever she wanted in her children’s homes.
First of all, do unto others what you want them to do to you. And I know you have heard stories about in-laws and those stories have made you stereotypical. It’s true that some of these in-laws do unto others, what have been done unto them. But you can decide to break the cycle by praying for their hearts (for the king’s heart is in the hands of the Lord), being patient and dealing with them wisely.
Furthermore, parents need to realise that even though children are the heritage of the Lord, they can’t act like they are the lord and savior of these children. So stop the dictatorial style and the emotional blackmail of listing everything you’ve done. Yes, you would reap the good fruits of your labour but, not at the expense of your children’s peace. In other words, stop helping the enemy by destroying the homes and lives of your children.
Till the next post, keep learning.
